By Major League Baseball Executive Tyrone Brooks
Just 2 weeks into the Legacy League season, the League will fulfill its promise of developing players both on and off the field. Tyrone Brooks, the Senior Director of Workforce Development, will speak with the League's players, parents, directors, and associates regarding opportunities available to the baseball community—not just on the field but in many other areas of professional baseball for which these players could soon qualify.
Tyrone Brooks joined the Office of the Commissioner at Major League Baseball as the Senior Director of the Front Office in February of 2016 and never looked back. Brooks, who is entering his 31st season in professional baseball, has notable front-office experience, including work in major-league administration, scouting, and player development. He was a valued staff member for the Atlanta Braves, contributing to the organization winning 10 Division titles in 11 seasons.
His visit on behalf of the Legacy League aims to plant seeds about careers in Major League Baseball. "We want everyone to have a chance to play at the highest level possible on the field, but if that doesn't mature, we want to open doors of opportunity for everyone to pursue their baseball interests in the many areas available across that landscape and the careers that await." - Tyrone Brooks - MLB Senior Dir. Front Office
Tim Bennett, Commissioner of the Legacy League, CEO of the Hank Aaron Sports Academy and founder of the former Mississippi Braves (Atlanta Braves - AA / 2005 - 2024) and former Co-Owner of Biloxi Shuckers (Milwaukee Brewers - AA / 2015 - 2025), said: "This is a real privilege to be a part of a league made up of Hall of Famers and All-Stars from numerous sports, serving as owners, instructors and coaches, all with a common purpose of "giving back" by educating these high school and college players not just on developing on the field, but also off the field as we try to provide a pathway for players to benefit from a career in baseball regardless of where their talents are recognized and utilized at the next level."
The presentation will take place at the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame on Tuesday, June 9th, at 3 pm. All sports enthusiasts are invited to attend, with a focus on high school and college students.
